  • Firefighter/EMT Stephen Graeber

    Serving since 2012

My name is Stephen and I am currently a Paid-on-call / part time Firefighter / EMT-Basic with the Lake Egypt Fire Protection District.  I heard about Lake Egypt Fire Protection District while I was working for a private ambulance service in northern Illinois.  After I had visited Lake Egypt I knew I had to move to southern Illinois to become a member.  I was first a live-in at Lake Egypt before I became a part time employee.  I am currently in the process of obtaining my paramedic certification to better serve the community.  I am incredibly blessed to have been given an opportunity to become a part time member with Lake Egypt Fire Protection District because it has been my dream since a child to have become a firefighter.

  • Firemedic/Diver Baxter Heflin

    Serving since 2010

My name is Baxter Heflin. I've been with the Lake Egypt Fire Protection District for about six years. Most recently as a part-time/paid on call, live-in Firemedic. I began my career here in the Explorer program, which gave me opportunities to begin my path in EMS. This allowed me to get my IDPH paramedic license, and my National Registry paramedic license about two years ago. I also work as an RN in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale's Emergency Department. Serving this community has given me more than I could ever ask for, and I hope to help repay that through our work.
