Lake Egypt Fire Protection District covers approximately 240 square miles located in Southern Illinois. The district covers a wide array of terrains and demographics, from the coal fired power plant located on the Lake of Egypt, United States Penitentiary Marion to the Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge and Adams School (K-12). The district stretches into four counties: Williamson, Johnson, Jackson and Union, but we have many mutual aid and auto aid agreements set up with agencies around the immediate area.
Our staff, both career and paid on call are dedicated to keeping ahead of the ever changing dynamics in our profession. All career members are of the Illinois Department of Public Health EMT- Paramedic and a minimum of the Office of the State Fire Marshal Firefighter II or Basic Operations Firefighter. Our part time and paid on call staff also shall take the Office of the State Fire Marshal during the probationary period. All members take great pride and professionalism in serving our residents and guests to our great community.
The LEFPD has a Class 7 ISO rating or Class 9 ISO rating depending on location of your residence. The Fire District also has automatic aid for fires to ensure the residents get top notch fire protection.
The LEFPD has three ambulances to serve the community and surrounding areas.
The LEFPD provides services for wildland fires, water rescues, and hazardous materials.
LEFPD is a member of MABAS Division 45. The Lake Egypt Fire Protection District also has 2 members on the Hazardous Materials Team. LEFPD also houses and operates the divisions Decontamination Truck.
