LAKE OF EGYPT — Sunny weather brought out dozens of people for a day of fire safety at the Lake of Egypt Fire House.
Organizers say this is the 15th year they’ve hosted this event, which aims to educate children about fire safety.
Firefighters had a miniature house on hand to show how fast a home can fill with smoke and showed kids how to crawl to an exit.
“As a fire department we try to prevent fires as much as we can and try to spread the message to a group of kids. This is similar to fire prevention in schools but its just a different event,” said firefighter and paramedic with Lake of Egypt Fire Protection, Brady Crane.
Over 20 vendors were set up inside the fire house selling crafts and food.
The event featured bouncy houses, helicopter rides and an air evac helicopter on display.
